Junk Art co-creators team up to make My Singing Monsters: The Board Game
A beastly baritone.
Sen-Foong Lim and Jay Cormier, the co-designers behind dexterity game Junk Art, have co-created a tabletop adaptation of the video game, My Singing Monsters.
Called My Singing Monsters: The Board Game, the upcoming tabletop title will see players adopting their own grotesque - yet adorable - creatures in a quest to make them the most impressive performer in Monster World. Set in the same universe as the video game, My Singing Monsters: The Board Game presents players with the option to choose from five different characters, before setting off on an adventure around the various islands, gradually building up their abilities and becoming a stronger monster.
A worker-placement game designed to be accessible to younger and less experienced players, My Singing Monsters: The Board Game contains five different islands for players to explore, as well as over 50 monsters to collect and breed. There will be a simplified mode of the game for players who want to start with the very basics and work their way up. Expansions for the title will also be made available with the core release, each introducing a new set of mechanics for players to experience.
My Singing Monsters is a video game in which players explore an online world to find and befriend hundreds of creatures, each gifted with the talent of song. Every monster produces its own unique sound, meaning that the more creatures players collect and breed, the more complex the songs they’ll be able to hear. As players progress through the game, they’ll unlock more islands to explore and discover more monsters on. The video game is available to play for free on both Android and iOS devices.
Apart from co-creating My Singing Monsters: The Board Game and Junk Art, Sen-Foong Lim and Jay Cormier have also worked together on the Dungeons & Dragons board game, Rock Paper Wizard - that has players engaging in a battle of the classic playground game, but with the inclusion of chaotic magic spells - and a civilisation title about sailing in the oceans of ancient Greece called Akrotiri.
My Singing Monsters: The Board Game is being released by Big Blue Bubble Inc, a traditionally digital focused company that’s responsible for the development of the original My Singing Monsters video game.
The Kickstarter campaign for My Singing Monsters: The Board Game is set to be launched on June 1st, with Big Blue Bubble aiming to release the title by the end of this year.
