Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps release date still up in the air after two years of delays, publisher says
Gale Force Nine blames “a variety of circumstances out of our control”.
The studio behind much-delayed movie board game Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps, Gale Force Nine, has released an update on the upcoming board game’s release date - and it’s not fantastic news.
First revealed in early 2018, Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps is a co-op board game based on the sci-fi horror film. The game sees a group of players step into the acid-splashed boots of colonial marines as they fight off the xenomorph hordes.
The board game’s initial release date of September 2018 later slipped into 2019, before being delayed once more into 2020. At the time, Gale Force Nine said the delay was due to the “growth of the game”, with additional characters, maps and environments being added to the box.
Now, the publisher has given a further update on the status of the upcoming board game, revealing that Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps’ core gameplay and miniatures - which include characters such as Apone, Ripley, Newt and Hicks - have completed development.
It also commented on Another Glorious Day in the Corps’ much-delayed release date, saying that, for the time being, no estimated release date could be given. Whether that means the co-op board game will still arrive this year or has been delayed to 2021 is not clear - Dicebreaker has reached out to Gale Force Nine for further information and will update this story as necessary.
“Due to a variety of circumstances out of our control we are just not at this point able to provide information such as a release date, but as soon as we can we will be doing so,” the publisher wrote in a Facebook post. “As soon as the situation allows we will be getting the game into your hands.”
Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps is the latest in a string of TV and movie board games from Gale Force Nine, following adaptations of Sons of Anarchy, Star Trek, Firefly and more.
Despite Another Glorious Day in the Corps having no confirmed release date, the publisher recently announced two expansions for the upcoming board game. Ultimate Badasses completes the squad of colonial marines, while Get Away From Her You B@!$h - as the name suggests - features Ripley in the power loader facing off against the Alien Queen, along with additional missions and gameplay rules.
